Why readers LOVE Again, Rachel

'This is Marian's most moving, emotive and brilliantly written book yet。 Just wonderful' 5**** reader review
'Again, Rachel has all the ingredients that make Marian's books so uniquely special - warmth, humour, sadness and depth。 It's absolutely perfect' 5***** reader review

'I devoured this book and lost myself in the characters that Marian makes so accessible, easy to identify with and so perfectly flawed' 5***** reader review
'I laughed, I cried, I obsessed and now I'm going to have to read it again because I can't bear to leave the characters behind。 Wonderful!' 5***** reader review

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would as I did not enjoy Rachel's Holiday as much as her other novels。 This book was fantastic and far superior to the first part of the story (it has been 25 years)。 It could be potentially triggering for those who have had a late miscarriage (baby loss in the third trimester) and had to give birth to their baby who had died in the womb。 What a terribly thing for anyone to live through, and I think the way the Rachel and Luke handled it was understandab I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would as I did not enjoy Rachel's Holiday as much as her other novels。 This book was fantastic and far superior to the first part of the story (it has been 25 years)。 It could be potentially triggering for those who have had a late miscarriage (baby loss in the third trimester) and had to give birth to their baby who had died in the womb。 What a terribly thing for anyone to live through, and I think the way the Rachel and Luke handled it was understandable。 In spite of the difficult subject it was still an enjoyable and easy to read。 。。。more

In true Keyes style this story is a witty roller-coaster。 I enjoyed a catch-up with the Walsh family。

Marian just never lets us readers down。 This was a brilliant, heart-warming, and witty sequel to 'Rachels Holiday'。 I've loved reading about the messy lives of the Walsh family。 Marian just never lets us readers down。 This was a brilliant, heart-warming, and witty sequel to 'Rachels Holiday'。 I've loved reading about the messy lives of the Walsh family。 。。。more

This was a very tedious read。 The plot seemed to drag on and on。 I didn’t connect with any of the characters and felt the same theme was repeated over and over—as one reviewer said “I love Quinn but am still connected to Tom。” I haven’t finished it yet and I don’t think I will。 I don’t really care who Rachel chooses to be with。 Why is that? Perhaps Rachel’s character isn’t flawed enough? Ik las deel 1 over Rachel denk ik 20 jaar geleden。 Deel 2 vooral gekocht 'for old time's sake'。 Het was niet opvallend / verrassend, maar wel gewoon een heerlijk en mooi boek! An in depth story about every type of addiction: shopping, sex, drugs & alcohol from the point of view of an addict turned counselor。 I was spell bound as this books digs into the mind of addicts and decision making。 This is a very interesting book with multi-faceted characters。

Although I find all the talk of designer lable a bit irritating I did enjoy this book - Rachel progress is convincing and the book develops the themes of addiction to more mundane things ( like tidyness, routine etc) She also deals with miscarriage, dealing with the overwhelming grief and how it can impact relationships。 It's also often laugh out loud funny and backed with affirmations on how to maintain good mental health in a farily subtle way。 Although I find all the talk of designer lable a bit irritating I did enjoy this book - Rachel progress is convincing and the book develops the themes of addiction to more mundane things ( like tidyness, routine etc) She also deals with miscarriage, dealing with the overwhelming grief and how it can impact relationships。 It's also often laugh out loud funny and backed with affirmations on how to maintain good mental health in a farily subtle way。 。。。more

An enjoyable read。 And yet not a light read。 This is a very adult book that deals with life's most painful moments with levity and humor and some tears。 A great follow-up to the aging Walsh family。 An enjoyable read。 And yet not a light read。 This is a very adult book that deals with life's most painful moments with levity and humor and some tears。 A great follow-up to the aging Walsh family。 。。。more

As a fan of Marian Keyes for two decades or more, I was thrilled to get to spend more time Rachel Walsh。 The previous Rachel novel, _Rachel's Holiday_, is a book I've read multiple times and once taught in a Contemporary Irish novel course。 I'm happy to say, Marian Keyes did not disappoint。 Rachel has matured and changed and is still completely her hilarious self。 The book is a perfect mix of humor and pathos, romance and grief。 Are there too many characters? Yes。 Is it about 100 pages too long? Absolutely not。 This book will appeal to readers who like smart, romantic, slice-of-life fiction。 In addition, those who have an interest in addiction/recovery stories, Ireland, and grief will find plenty here to satisfy。 If you are already a fan of Keyes, you won't be disappointed by this one。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 TW: childloss This is my first Marian Keyes book and I have to say, as a mother of a child that left way too early, I have never felt so seen or heard。 Even before I realised what was about to come up I completely recognised Rachel’s words and feelings。 I would sit up and read verses to my husband… both of us stunned to have our own experience so beautifully, yet heartbreakingly, captured。 Thank you for this book and writing about such a traumatic event in such a human way。

Reading this book was like catching up with old friends。 It reminded me of reading these books 15 years ago。 It’s a good book but I would’ve given it five stars just to spend some time with these characters again。

Follow up to Rachel’s Holiday (re read) and read this in Cameron House。Human and forgivable but all very easy - gets addicted, goes to rehab, recovers - doesn’t really show shite reality。

What a beautiful visit to the Walsh family!I DO wish I had gone back and re-read all the Walsh family stories again -- I'll be doing it now, but I realized it's been long enough, that I had forgotten details。Marian Keyes is one of my favorite writers of all time。And the characters and the depth of their stories and the complex and challenging worlds Keyes creates are why。I'd hate to pick favorites of her books, but this is way up there! I only read this as I enjoyed the first book and I have to say I was very disappointed。 This book is nearly 500 pages long yet it should have been over after about 300。 Too long winded and really dragged out。 I enjoyed the storyline and the flicking between the past and the present but I just felt bored by the end。

Last hear her book, Grow Ups, disappointed me and I wasn't expecting much, so the opening chapters had to overcome my lack of appetite for the number of characters exploding on the pages, but then the story settled into Rachel Walsh the addict of 'Rachel's Holiday' fame and it took hold。 Is it Chick Lit?
